Break the Silence Stop the Violence

Iyanla Vanzant

The Haven was really wonderful for making accommodations for me and my medically fragile infant. While I was in shelter I learned about abusive relationships, i learned self respect and I learned I could be a wonderful mother and stand on my own two feet, The counselors were always available to talk to anytime day or night. They made sure our needs were taken care of. Transportation was always provided for needed trips. The staff was so welcoming and helpful that I never thought of going back to him. I learned how to be a strong, independent mother. Now as I receive outreach services, my outreach specialist is always here on time for our appointments and still counsels with me about abusive relationships. I know leaving him was the right thing to do. I know he would kill me if I ever went back. I am so thankful for the Haven being there for us in our time of need.
