Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a pattern of assault and coercive behaviors, attitudes, and expectations, including physical, sexual, verbal and psychological attacks, as well as economic coercion, that adults and adolescents use against their intimate partners. Domestic violence is used by one person to gain and maintain power and control over another.
In 2025, the Haven provided 7,736 bed nights at the Shelter, providing housing for women and children who were victims of domestic violence and afraid for their safety
There were 282 women and children who entered the Emergency Shelter. The Shelter provided over 23,208 meals.
The Haven provided an array of services totaling 31,245 to 588 women, 59 men and 178 children, and answered 1,815 crisis calls. The Haven Legal Advocates provided 218 protective and stalking orders. A total of 825 victims' lives were impacted by domestic violence throughout Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Colquitt, Cook, Echols, Lanier and Lowndes counties.
There were 304 victims of sexual assault requiring services, 61 of these under the age of 18.
A total of 1,443 victims were served by The Haven in 2025.
